Anorexia nervosa, also known as anorexia, and commonly known as "ana" in these circles is an eating disorder. It is often defined as "characterized by refusal to maintain a healthy body weight, and an obsessive fear of gaining weight." Although most people think of anorexia (or bulimia) when they think about eating disorders, it is but one of the many forms that an eating disorder can take.
