Ugh.

Posted by adisappearingact on March 9, 2010 at 5:10 PM

Hola, ladies! I would like some advice, if you don't mind :)

I do okay with temptation at school because there's not much food available to me except for lunch, but it's when I get home that really kills me.

I tend to binge and eat a ton of fatty foods I otherwise wouldn't eat in such large amounts.

I was wondering if any one had any tips on how to aviod eating my face off when I get home :P

I've heard about chewing gum, but I don't have easy access to buying gum on a regular basis. Are there any other ways?

Thanks!

Em <3

Will power. Lol. Just distract yourself. For e.g you have a craving so you do your homework, or paint your nails, or take a shower, or tody your room, or play around with your makeup or.... You've probably got the picture. Also, if you do some exercise, I find that stops cravings. I hope I helped! =) x x

yep. stay distracted. stay away from the food as much as possible.
if you can, keep healthy foods in your room (fruits veggies low cal stuff....jello etc.) this way if you feel the need to snack, if you must, you will have your snack in your room so you can stay away from the kitchen and the potential fatty binges it induces. its likely that if you have food in your room you wont go out to get it. convenience is key. Drink lots of water. it might help you feel full. when you want to binge..drink water. Sometimes you arent actually hungry. sometimes you mistake thirst for hunger.
when you feel like binging...distract yourself. drink water. and maybe write down all the reasons you shouldnt binge and read them out loud to yourself. it may sound stupid but i have talked myself out of a few binges this way.
hope this might have helped. good luck.

I have the exact same problem (cept i dont binge afterwards). I'm trying to deal with it right now, but the best thing to do is maybe have a water bottle with you when you at home and just carry it around and drink it when ever you start to feel like you want to eat and KEEP YOURSELF BUSY. I've also heard that if you wait 10 minutes the craving will pass - this has worked for me! Good luck!

distract your self = ]

eating is a habbit that you have to break, infact i formed a new habit [smoking] after i started loosing and fasting.

do anything you like to do instead, like thinspo!

same here
i just try and get myself out of the house as quickly as possible (library, long walk, gym), somewhere quiet and solitary. i find it harder to resist temptation when i see my whole family having after school snacks (damn them! haha). walking really clears my head and its exercise (bonus!), and the library usually has a pretty good selection of books on e.d., which are always a great distraction

try and get ride of all the fatty foods in your house. tell your parents not to buy them, cus you dont like them anymore or something.
lock yourself in your room. when you get home get water and bring it to your room and never go out. if your parents ask, just say you are studying. =]
stay strong! (: xx
