Baby food pouches

Posted by FragileElement on December 20, 2011 at 2:15 PM

So today I was at the store with my mother and I saw these baby food pouches. They are like a meal in a pouch that are like 35 calories a pouch. Thats like really cool. But I started thinking if Babies are trying to grow then will the food acctaully make me gain weight if  I eat one for each meal? I know this may sound weird but its all fruit and veggies under 50 calories (: Idk I am weird. Has anyone ever thought about trying this or has done this?

Babies have a calorie requirement that is MUCH lower than a teenager's or adult's. Also, baby food is usually used in addition to breastmilk or formula, and THAT is what helps babies pack on the pounds until they're old enough to get their nutrition solely from solids.

In short - baby food will NOT make you gain weight. I don't really suggest using that as your only source of food, though. I HAVE tried it and it's not really practical for a long term go (you'll be missing texture eventually), and financially it gets expensive.

I've got several types of the gerber's fruit pouches at home. They are between 70 and 100 cals a piece. What kind did you find that only have 35?

There are whole celebrity diets about eating just babyfood. But I warn you; it tastes rank! It should help you loose weight because you will still only be eating like 105 calories a day.

Also, I only ever eat fruit and vedge willingly. Unless my mum forces me. :(

You won't gain weight... The number of calories on the pack is the number of calories you'll take in. It won't have much (or indeed any) salt so it'll be REALLY bland but it'll probably be nutritionally balanced for kids - dunno exactly what that'd entail but it'd probably be the equivalent of eating a multivitamin puréed with veggies ? so I guess you win some, you loose some. I've never done it (wierd about certain textures and baby food is DEFINATELY one of them!) but I hear it was a celebrity diet a while back.
