The complaint (which was posted today just below) led to a forum discussion, which quickly brought about a point that has been resonating more frequently than expected. Within the hour this page was removed as the homepage, and a new one was put up.
What was the issue?
Someone (and I believe they had support in this at the time) felt that anorexia and other eating disorders were symptoms of another, broader problem or issue. They seem to be in he minority, contrary to my beliefs. So, this homepage has been removed, with a note that the content on the page, specifically as it relates to what an eating disorder is, and even to what pro-ana means, or what this site is all about, may not be accurate or reflect the sentiment of the site members.
As such, it is the constant request of this sites owner that you contribute to the site, in whatever way you can, and help raise awareness for the complexity of eating disorders. Submit stories, articles, art, and information of any kind which you feel would be a positive and valuable addition to this site.
There are many ways to contact PrettyThin, from email to Facebook. Just seek it out and you'll easily find it on this site.

The forum is a place where people can ask the questions they want without fear of how they might be perceived. And to answer openly, from the heart and with the support of personal experiences, without the fear of being judged or viewed differently. This forum us a place where people can be themselves, and choose doing so in disguise or in person. Either way, a community of individuals with eating disorders has formed that welcomes all people who experience eating disorders in their lives, one way or another.
The PrettyThin blog started as a way to get members to communicate. It was the first social tool that was available to us, and was the only way the members could introduce themselves, ask questions, pose ideas, and get some feedback. We've come a long way in social communication with the addition of the forum, and are striving to move forward onto other social platforms (if they would stop deleting our account @facebook).
PrettyThin has continually changed since it officially started in 2007. It is still changing as new members join and bring their experiences and individuality to the community. For the first two years, this site wasn't a community at all. It was no more than a website with tips on losing weight, restricting, and covering up your activity. It wasn't even run by me. In 2009 we started creating a community when we offered membership and the ability to create profiles, post to the blog, contribute to the forum.
Over the years this site and community have struggled with terms such as pro-ana, with the existence of member photos or thinspiration, and with the kinds of things that are allowed, the things that are encouraged, and the things that are forbidden.
The only way to understand the community is to spend some time reading our history, our stories, our original experiences, and the things we have to say about what PrettyThin means to us.
