Stay Beautiful

Let's face it... Being Ana takes it's toll on our bodies, inside and out. So here are some helpful tips on keeping up lookin' good on the outside.

  • At a certain weight, which is different for everyone, you will lose your period. This is a good thing because it means that you’re losing weight. Still, it would be wise if you’d take calcium supplements, if you don’t already. Don’t let your mother find out about your lost period because she will most likely take you to the doctor. Never under any circumstances tell a doctor that you’ve lost your period. They will have you in an eating disorder clinic faster than you can say "What the hell?". Before you go to the doctor’s, make sure that you have a date to tell them in case they ask about your last period, and make sure the date is believable.
  • As you lose weight, your skin will become dry and sallow and it will heal slowly. Make sure that you use LOTS of lotion where it is needed and take a multivitamin. If you lose enough weight, your body will develop lanugo, which is a very fine downy hair that covers your body. It can easily be removed with a mild depilatory followed by hydrocortisone cream.
  • Your hair and nails will suffer do to lack of suffiecient protein. Use volumizing shampoo and lots of conditioner to keep hair full and shiny. If you lose enough, eventually your hair will fall out. Sad, but true. Try to keep from pulling at the roots of your hair. Always put hair in loose ponytails instead of tight ones. Also, keep your nails polished. Low circulation to your fingertips make your nails turn blue and that’s a thing doctors look for.

Pedicure

Getting a pedicure is a good way to distract from eating and too make yourself feel prettier.

  1. In a big bowl (big enough to fit both feet into), throw some rocky salt into freezing cold water.
  2. Before putting your feet into the water, wash them. Take old polish off with acetone or other nail polish remover, then wash again in cold water (cold water relaxes feet).
  3. Leave your feet in the bowl for at least 10 minutes. Enjoy some relaxing music.
  4. Scrub under your feet with a rocky sponge, in small circles. Scrub the rest of your foot gently.
  5. Proceed to cut your nails. Cut them square leaving the angles not very sharp.
  6. Now, with an orangewood stick, push your cuticles in the direction of your tow.
  7. Put on a base coal. Let it dry for at least 5 minutes.
  8. Add nail color. Make sure to leave 10 minutes between each coat of color.
  9. Then apply a top coat. Let dry for 20 minutes

Some Beauty Tips

I got these from Vixen:

.::1::. Always remember that your face is your trademark. Change your hair often but always stay with the same makeup. Changing it up a bit is fine, but when you find what works best for you stick with it. Here are my favorites.

Face: Maybelliene Dream Matte Mousse, then I brush on Bonne Bell Glilmmer Bronze loose powder on my cheek bones, fore head, nose, and jaw bones. Sometimes I add some shimmery blush like Maybelliene Brush Blush in Sweetheart Rose.

Eyes: First I apply a liquid eye shadow in a shimmery bone color (different than cream shadow because it doesn't crease). Next I apply Physican’s Formula Baked Eye Shadows in Baked Sands. First I brush the white color from my brows to my lash line. Second I apply the darkest shade in my crease blending up a little twards my brow bone. Next I apply the medium shade on my lid. Then I line my lids and my inner rims with a black khol liner (loreal is my fav!). I finish up with lots of Maybelliene XXL mascara in black.

Lips: Sometimes I line my lips with Cover Girl Smoothers lip liner in Spices. Then I apply light pink lipstick and gloss. My fav’s are MAC Purrr and Maybelliene Rhindstone Pink. When I’m at home I wear Soft lips in Vanilla.

.::2::. Skin care is very important. Olay Daily Facials are excellent for removing makeup and cleansing your face. All of us get blackheads at some time or another, and when that happens I rely on Biore Pore Strips. My Rule of thumb is that whenever my face gets wet, to moisturize it. I love Olay Beauty Fluid because it’s weightless and not greasy and it makes my face feel really smooth. After my morning shower I always use Jergens Shimmer Lotion. In the evening after my bath I like to use Jergens Natural Glow in Medium. It really brings out my tan because it has subtle skin darkeners in it! Oh! I use the tanning bed like 4-5 times a week for 20-minutes a session. For special occasions I like to get a mystic tan.

.::3::. Nobody likes hair where it’s not supposed to be. I wax my lip, eyebrows, and I also get a Brazilian bikini wax about every 3 weeks. I perfer to shave my legs and under arms. I love that new Venus Vibrance razor. I also use a thick shaving cream called Skintimates. After I shave my legs I use an after shave gel by Skintimates (Raspberry Rain smells sooo good, my boyfriend says it tastes good too....he he!). Using a smooth deodorant is important too. I use Secret Platinum with Olay in Botanical Silk. When I shave my pits I always save up then down to prevent bumpies!

.::4::. I like to pamper myself to Acrylic nails sometimes (well actually I perfer Solar or glass). It gets expensive though, and sometimes they break off. When I just have my real nails I always wear a strenthing polish by Sally Hansen called Hard As Nails. I also love french manicures and pedicures. I like bright colors on my toes sometimes too. Always keep your feet looking pretty!

.::5::. I love to change my hair style! I try to keep the same color though, dark brown with caramel highlights or chunks. I always use Pantene Conditioners, but for my shampoo I like anything that smells good! I like using as little products as posible because it ways down my hair. I use BioSilk to make my hair really smooth and shiny. When I want lots of volume, I smooth mousse onto my hair when it’s wet, then I use my revo styler and blow drier. When I’m in a hurry I use styling paste and texturizer on my hair when it’s wet, then I crunch it up between my fingers, put it up in a pony tail and spray it so that it looks really curly.

Puffy Or Red Eyes

  • Ban puffy eyes with coldness. Take a few cotton balls and dip them in ice water, and quickly pinch out the excess water. Slap the cold cotton on your eyes and in about 15 minutes that puffiness will go away. This trick also works excellent if you purge and your eyes become red. Coldness with make the red veins in your eyes go away a bit, and make your eyes look really white! Or if you are in a pinch, place an ice cube over your eyes for a minute or so, but no longer because you don't want to damage your eyes.

  • Puffy eyes are a sign of dehydration and lack of sleep. Drink 8-10 glasses of water each day. Although this doesn't work quickly like the one remedy above, it will work with a few days. Also, make sure you are getting to bed early enough at night, you will be amazed what an extra hour could do.
