Hate Mail - Bulimia

These are examples of hate mail related to bulimia that I have received which led to the questions about it. Read for context.

Subject - You are a horrible person

You are a thirty year old man who runs an eating disorder website and has young girls post pictures of themselves in underwear.

You say you aren't pro-ana, yet you glorify thinness and obviously support the disordered lifestyle that your members live.

You belittle bulimics and say that they should be looked down on. I'll have you know I'm a bulimic, and this is downright rude and insulting. Who are you to look down on me? Oh right, YOU AREN'T BECAUSE YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE AN ED.

Oh and by the way... pretty much everyone here is a wana.

This is not a hate e-mail.  I am not a jerk atleast try not to be.  I am a recoverying anorexic and bulmic. I also am not sure if it is life-style choose or a diesease, but thats besides the point.  YOu mentioned your anti-bulimia because bulimia is not healthy. I just had to mention anorexia is not healthy either, 20 percent of people with anorexia die from it. I know people who have never struggled with bulmia, who have heart condtions from anorexia. Being underweight can be very dangrous, and even straving yourself if you are not underweight can be very dangrous.  I know people who because of stravation who were not even underweight who had heart condtions and feel down andn broke all there ribs.

It just confuses me as to how you can be anti one but accepting of the other, when both are very dangerous.

I am not convinced that allowing people to seek beauty no matter what means with the acception of bulmia is the answer. I believe people need support and unconditional love no matter what chooses they make whether healthy or unhealthy, people need to have people understand that they desire to be emactied with out judging them more it.  People don't need people to support and encourage anorexic behavior, but discourage bulmic behavior.

People need support in there situation whether anorexic or bulmic, well at the same time clearly stating that both eating disorders cause dangers because they do, and anorexia is just as unhealthy as bulmia.  Actually if someone only purgings occasionally, and someone else is eating 200 caloires a day every day for a prolonged period of time the person eating 200 caloires a day will be in more danger.

In addition bulmia somtimes feels like an only choose for a person its not the only choose, but it often feels like it, and anorexia often leads to binging and purging.  And also not all bulmics make them selves throw up, some fast after binging, and some overexercise are you also anti those? Fasting after a binge with out taking proper health steps before a fast is unhealthy for you body, I do believe in fasting for sprtiual reasons as its in the bible, but fasting with out eating a well balenced diet prior and taking health steps before teh fast can be dangrous, also fasting for to long can be dangerous, and if you are not fasting for God it can be dangerous and unhealthy.

overexerciseing can be bad and lead to osteroporis among other things.  But I just would ask you to think about way you are accepting of anorexics behavior and willing to support it but anti bulmia when both come wiht health risk and they are not the only options.

Anorexic and Bulmia also don't work you should tell your members that, you body goes into stravation mode and amkes you more likely to gain weight, if you consistantly eat below 2000 to 2500 caloires as a female your body is more likely to store fat and more likely to gain weight, if you eat 2000 to 2500 caloires a day even if you over eat for a whole week you unlikely to gainw eigh tbecause your metablism will be kept up, people need to eat every 3 to 4 hours as well.

People need to learn to and help and support accepting there bodies as they are natrually at there natural set point.  Physical beauty is not everything. People do need people who are understanding and sympathitic of there idea of aphsyical beauty, but not who are allowing pepole to do whatever tehy want to achieve it, but at the same time accepting people even if they are going to turn to anorexia and bulmia to achieve it.

If you think anorexia is a healthy life style and the only way than I would say you have not done as much research on the matter as you could of been.

Just so you know I used to run a pro-anorexic website of my own a long time ago but I ran one,  and I don't think all pro-anorexic websites are comlpletely bad things, and i don't even think this site is a completely bad thing.

But people I am repeating myself need a free nonjudgemental enviroment were they can learn and grow into more healthy eating habits and accepting who they are and there bodies naturally.

I don't really know what else to say. I just feel confused as to how you can be anti bulmia but accepting of anorexia when both are equally dangerous, and anorexia can lead to death, heart damage, kidney damage, osteroporis among other things and it is not the only way or even the best way to maintain a thin weight, and can even possible lead to being overweight in the future because it slows down your metablism.

Also happiness is a choose you can choose to be happy in every circumstance, and I would not be accepting of people who choose any way they could to get happy.  Such as stealing to get happy is something I would not be ok with but I would try not to judge the person and be sympathic to them.  And stealing often times peopple think it will make them happy but it does not.

Anorexic and Bulmics need to realize that there lifes are valuable,  they often don't have any real sense of value for there lifes, and anorexia is often not about be beautiful people think it is and often say it is, but its often not its about deeper underlying issues and I am sure you already know that.
