Discussions about Anorexia

PrettyThin is not a dieting site. It is a community of individuals with an eating disorder, or somehow associated with the struggle within that manifests itself in this way.

Thinspo

I ran across this recently looking into the different ways people find PrettyThin. I've been more and more curious about it, and I know I've asked in the past, but the numbers show a different story. Maybe just a story that's different to me.

Demographics. The words they used to find it. How many people come to the site, how many people come repeatedly, how many find it coming from another site or how many searched some word or another and exactly what page they went to.

Don't worry - the information is pretty general other than that - for example, I don't know who the people are exactly, and certainly no idea who they are in context of a profile or member on PT.

This is an interesting one that rivals PT when it comes to the word "Pro-Ana." Many people say that those words should have nothing to do with who we are here as a community. And yet, more than 25% of the people who are here regularly, as members, found the site by looking up Pro-Ana.

.....EDITED ABOUT 24Hours LATER......

I removed the link because the community made me aware of a discrepancy in the sites claims of the book. So, maybe this is the only reliable site of its kind?  If it is, it all comes from you. You create the mixture, you create the diversity, you create the support. You make PrettyThin amazing.

Moderated this time. I'm working on the guidelines and ways to relay what it's all about. Might even have a splash page that people need to read or at least see before accessing it, but let's get it started first.

"Why?" you may ask. Well, I get a lot of emails about it daily, and in the past the problem was moderation. Well, let's moderate then, from the start...

Hate it, love it, not sure...you know how to reach me :-)

This book was released this morning on Amazon and at Barnes & Nobles. Keisha Burton, the author of Beautiful Girl, asked me to promote her book and I thought this was something the community would appreciate.

I haven't read the book yet - my copy is on its way. I think books like this help raise awareness in the general public about the disorder, hopefully wiping out some myths and driving human consciousness forward in better understanding the things within ourselves that impact us.

If you get this book and wish to review it, get in touch!

And I'm still getting emails about Unity Bracelets. If you purchased on, expect an email from me tonight! If you don't get one, email me tomorrow morning with as much info about your order as you have so I can check things out.

Weight Mirror - Get Skinny Fast!

This is somewhat ridiculous, so I had to post it. I saw this in the forums and had to check it out. Long time members may remember how PrettyThin was blocked from bring able to post ads from most networks - ads that would help fund the maintenance of the site. So I always find it funny when I see the "lose 7 pounds fast" and "get your body in shape for summer" on other sites. What a campaign - hey people - pay for things to lose weight during the summer but then go back to whatever lifestyle you want for winter. Why develop good habits?

Here's something else that's interesting. The girl weights only 135ibs. That's supposed to be the "fat" version of her. When I took her weight down as far as I could, you get the picture on the right. Guess how much she weighs there? 94ibs...

Healthy weight? And they say PrettyThin causes people to become anorexic....
